ISA ASSESSMENTS

The ISA Assessment compares existing building’s % of structural earthquake strength relative to New Building Standard (%NBS). SPL’s extensive seismic retrofitting and engineering experience can help access a range of options available based on ISA grade structures:

Earthquake prone (NBS less than 33%)

  • "Earthquake prone” implies high level of building damage is expected as a result of a “design” earthquake.

Earthquake risk (NBS 33% - 67%)

  • Councils will not insist on an upgrade but buildings between 34% - 67% NBS are listed as “potentially an earthquake risk”.

  • Implies high to minor building damage in a “design” earthquake.

Unlikely to be an earthquake risk (NBS above 67%)

  • Strengthening the structural components can be investigated.
